The South Bergen area is experiencing an increase of
motor vehicle thefts and thefts from motor vehicles. The actors are stealing
mostly sports cars and GPS systems. The crimes are taking place under the cover
of dark in the early evening into late night, predominantly on the west side of
the Borough. Many of the stolen
vehicles are recovered in Newark. The actors, frequently younger adults and
teenagers, are driving into the area with multiple actors in the vehicle. One
actor dismounts from the vehicle they are in and enters the victim’s vehicle by
compromising a door lock or smashing a window. There have been incidents where
vehicles were stolen while the owner was warming an unattended vehicle. The
North Arlington Police Department is requesting members of the community to
remain vigilant, immediately reporting suspicious activity to local
police departments.Remove GPS systems, portable radios systems, and mounts
from the dash and secure them in your home or trunk.

Heating Ordinance - The North Arlington Board of Health would like to remind all apartment dwelling owners and superintendents of Heating Ordinance 2005-01 that states as follows: From October 1 through May 15, a room temperature of not less than 65 degrees must be maintained in all habitable spaces, bathrooms and toilet rooms during the hours between 11:00 pm to 6:00 am and 68 degrees during daytime hours. It is also required that heat be supplied at any time of the year when unseasonable outside temperatures drop to 50 degrees or under. In that case, the above standard settings will apply. |

North Arlington Recreation is Broadway Bound
The North Arlington Recreation Commission is running a bus
trip Thursday February 12, 2009 to see two Broadway shows: MARY POPPINS is $87 and the new smash
hit BILLY ELLIOT is $125. Tickets are limited. Each show has only 24 tickets
available. Transportation is included. The bus will leave from in front of North
Arlington Borough Hall at 5:45 PM promptly. Tickets will be reserved as soon as payment is
received. There are no snow dates
or refunds. To reserve tickets
please mail a check (include your name, address and phone number) by February
1, made out to North Arlington Recreation
